Marie Lee ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Laird Funeral Home on Mar. 16, 2026.Frances Marie Shelton Lee, 91, of Round Rock, TX, transitioned into the arms of Jesus at Christopher House in Austin, TX on March 8, 2026 after suffering a stroke on February 22, 2026. She was dearly loved by her family & friends.Marie was born in Central City, NE. on February 8, 1935 to Max Haley & Elsie Alice Quisenberry Shelton. She was the youngest of six children and born an aunt. After graduating from Central City High School and working a year, Marie completed the Secretarial Course at Lincoln School of Commerce then worked in Omaha with Mid Continent Petroleum. When her sister, Alice Powell & family from Austin, TX came for a visit in July, 1954, Marie decided to go back with them to Austin. It was a hot, sweaty trip with 5 adults, 2 children & no A/C! Marie began working for First Methodist Church as Dr. Marvin Vance's secretary and enjoyed that for five years. During this time she met the love of her life, Robert (Bobby) David Lee who was a Petroleum Engineering student at The University of Texas. They married on December 22, 1955. After Bobby's graduation they moved to Longview, Odessa, Victoria, and settled in Houston in 1962 with their daughters, Carol (Austin) and Linda (Odessa). Marie was an excellent homemaker, homeroom mom, seamstress, bowler, bridge player, neighborhood poker party player, and loved Jeopardy, Texas Longhorn football, baseball, men's & women's basketball, the Houston Oilers, her daily half beer, Boston Terriers, Frenchies, & especially the Houston Astros. She was an original Astros fan attending their first baseball game in the Astrodome with Bobby & his parents. She was an incredible source of Astros facts, information & trivia. Marie enjoyed going to Galveston with Bobby and their girls when they were young and walking the beach looking for sharks teeth. After her beloved Bobby died in April, 1994, Marie decided she would like to work again and felt truly blessed to work part time as receptionist/administrative assistant for Gary Greene, Realtors. She continued bowling as well serving as secretary for two leagues, house rep for Palace Lanes, and Director for the Houston Women's Bowling Association. Marie loved being Grandma and Gigi to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
