Marian L. Pierce, 95, of Franklin, passed away on March 12, 2026 at the Cleveland Clinic in Avon.
Born in Franklin on January 23, 1931, Marian was the daughter of the late George and Jessie Gibbons Swyers. A graduate of Rocky Grove High School, she worked for many years as an instructor at Riverview Intermediate Unit #6. Marian found joy in quilting, baking, and solving crossword puzzles, and she remained active and energetic throughout her life. A woman of deep faith, she worshipped at many local churches, most recently at Christ Church of Franklin.
On September 10, 1948, she married Richard E. “Dick” Pierce. The couple shared 70 years of marriage before Dick passed away on October 27, 2018. Marian is survived by two sons, Richard “Rick” Pierce and his wife Diane of Avon Lake, Ohio, and Jeffrey Pierce of Franklin; a daughter-in-law, Doris “Dee” Pierce of Franklin; five grandchildren, Bryon Pierce and his wife Annie of Bay Village, Ohio, Brett Pierce of Nashville, Tennessee, Jeffrey Pierce Jr. and his wife Maria of Vancouver, British Columbia, Heather Gricks and her husband Paul of Oil City, and Craig Pierce and his wife Charity of Franklin; five great-grandsons, Haiden Schmader of South Carolina, Bryce and Carson Gricks of Oil City, and Brayden and Brennan Pierce of Bay Village, Ohio; three step-granddaughters, Arielle, Aly, and Ashley of Vancouver, British Columbia; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Steven Pierce, and a sister, Blanche “Bonnie” Beach.
