Maria Zamora

Maria Zamora, known lovingly as “Memo,” passed away on March 8, 2026, at the age of 72. Born in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, to Maria and Valentin Saldaña, she carried the affectionate nickname “Memo” with warmth throughout her life. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and faithful daughter of God, Memo centered her days around her faith and her family. A longtime member of Missouri Street Church of Christ, she served her church family with open arms, expressed her devotion through worship, and found daily comfort in singing songs of praise and reading her Bible.

Memo cherished the simple pleasures of life. She loved tending her backyard garden, caring for her flowers, and spending time among her roses and beloved fig tree. Her refrigerator was often filled with freshly picked figs, a quiet testament to the joy she found in nurturing what she grew. Above all, she delighted in her family. She expressed her love through cooking for those dear to her and ensuring their needs were met. Grandmotherhood brought her the deepest happiness; she helped raise many of her grandchildren as her own and remained a steady, loving presence in their lives, whether poolside or at school events.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Señora Maria and Valentin Saldaña, her husband Emilio Zamora III, her brothers Ramiro and Juan Saldaña, and many relatives and dear friends.

Memo is survived by her sons Jorge and Catalina Zamora, Emilio and Kimberly Zamora, and Arnulfo and Cristina Gonzalez; her daughters Edna and Andrew Castillo, Nora and Shane Bailey, Lupita Torres, Julia Gonzalez, and Olga Gonzalez; her grandchildren Erik, Stephanie, Shane, Sean, Jace, Mia, Aliya, Savannah, Jessica, and Edwin; her brother Victor (Toño) Saldaña, her sister Natalia Saldaña, her brother Leonardo Saldaña, and many nieces and nephews.
