Maria Tereschchenko

1936 — 2026

Maria Tereschchenko, age 89, passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side on March 11, 2026 after battling heart failure.

Born on October 18, 1936, Maria was the youngest of three siblings and grew up in Ukraine during the hardships of World War II and the Famine of 1946. Affectionately known as Maria “Manusya” within her family, she learned resilience and strength early in life, qualities she carried with quiet determination through the years. She built a successful career in financial services, rising to the position of Chief Financial Officer at a construction company in Ukraine.

In 1999, Maria moved with her family to the United States, where she continued to work as a devoted caregiver at a senior center. She took genuine pleasure in supporting the elderly individuals she served, many of whom she came to regard as dear friends. In her quieter moments, she found joy in reading, particularly the novels of Danielle Steel, of which she read more than 800, and in solving crossword puzzles.

Maria is survived by her beloved husband, Pavlo; her cherished daughters, Gallina and Tatyana; and her loving granddaughter, Olena. She was preceded in death by her brother Victor and her sister Yanina.
