Hershey Medical Center, surrounded by the love and support of her family, at the age of 14.Maria's journey was one that defied the ordinary; she was a beacon of hope and a testament to the power of the human spirit. Though her years were few, her impact was profound, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of her family and all with whom she came in contact. Maria is survived by her devoted parents, Rosa and Edison Figueroa; her loving brother, Theo Figueroa; her paternal grandmother, Blanca Maria Figueroa and her maternal grandparents, Teofilo Figueroa and Lucrecia Heredia.Throughout her life, Maria demonstrated an extraordinary ability to face life's challenges. She embraced her unique path with a sense of determination that motivated those around her. Maria lived her life on her own terms, never allowing circumstances to dim her inner light. She found her own joy in the simplicity of bright colors, the rhythms of her favorite music, and the playful escapades of characters on the Cartoon Network. Her enthusiasm, while not able to be vocalized, was nonetheless infectious. Maria reminded those around her to find happiness in the moment. Though some may have viewed her life as limited, akin to a butterfly in a cocoon, she proved that her spirit was never confined. Maria has been granted complete freedom and can now spread her wings and take flight. Her life leaves a legacy of courage, love, and the purest joy.Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for her viewing from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Thursday March 19, 2026 at the Hetrick-Bitner Funeral Home, Inc., 3125 Walnut Street, Harrisburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Friday March 20, 2026 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 1439 Market Street, Harrisburg.María José Figueroa falleció el sábado 14 de marzo de 2026 en el Centro Médico Milton S.
