Maria G Villanueva

1940 — 2026

Temple, TX

Maria G. Villanueva, lovingly known as “Chuy,” passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026, in Temple, Texas. Born on November 14, 1940, in San Rafael, San Carlos Tamaulipas, Mexico, she lived a life centered on deep devotion to family and the creation of lasting memories.

Maria worked for many years at Mastercraft in Mount Pleasant, Texas, and Western Hatcheries in Moffat, Texas. Her strong work ethic and quiet dedication were expressions of her lifelong commitment to caring for those she loved.

Above all, she was the best mom and grandmother—“mami”—to her family. Her children and grandchildren were the center of her world. She gave them boundless love, shared wisdom through stories of her childhood, and offered the gentle joy of her constant presence. She found great pleasure in music and dancing, filling rooms with warmth and laughter. She also loved to cook, preparing meals with care to nourish both body and spirit. Her favorite color was yellow, and she held a special fondness for yellow roses and sunflowers, flowers that reflected the bright spirit she carried within.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Irma Mendez and Angelica Maria Azua, along with Angelica’s husband, Anselmo. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Nubia Sauceda, Julio Cesar Sauceda, Jose Giral Jr., Vicente Morado, Vanessa Parker, Isaac Morado, Alan Cruz, Ivan Cruz, and Lucia Mendez. Maria was preceded in death by her parents, Maria Elena Ramirez De La Fuente and Teodolo Guevara Malacara, and her brother, Joel Guevara Ramirez. The love she nurtured will live on in all who knew her, a testament to the warmth and light she brought to their lives.
