July 6, 1937— March 6, 2026
Springfield, MA
Maria Del Carmen Rodriguez, lovingly known as Maria to her family and friends, was born on July 6, 1937, in Santiago, Dominican Republic. She passed away on March 6, 2026, at her home in Springfield, Massachusetts. A woman of great spirit and strength, Maria brought joy, light, and love to everyone she met. Her vibrant personality and warm laughter filled every room, and her passion for dance was matched only by the deep affection she held for her family, especially her beloved grandchildren.
Maria lived a life rooted in faith and resilience. A devoted Catholic, she drew strength from Psalm 28:7: “The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.” Even through life’s challenges, her trust in God remained steadfast. She embodied kindness and generosity, always ready to help others. Though she never held formal employment, she devoted herself fully to raising her son and nurturing her family with unwavering love and care.
She is survived by her son, Jose Ortega, who was the center of her world. Her parents, Placido Rodriguez and Blanca Vazquez, preceded her in death, and their guidance and love shaped the remarkable woman she became. Maria’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, a lasting reminder of her grace, faith, and the quiet strength she showed throughout her life.
