Marguerite M. Tranquillo

Marguerite M. Tranquillo

December 8, 1936 March 5, 2026

Mamaroneck, NY

Marguerite Mary Tranquillo, lovingly known as Margie or Mom, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2026, at the age of 89 in Mamaroneck, New York. Born on December 8, 1936, in the Bronx to Anthony and Mildred Collins, she grew up in Washington Heights. The oldest of four children, Margie became an orphan at 22 and took on the responsibility of helping to raise her younger siblings while also caring for her own family, a testament to the strength and dedication that marked her entire life.

After marrying her first husband, Harry Richart, she later moved to Westchester County in her thirties with her second husband, Thomas “Tommy” Tranquillo. A lifelong hard worker, Margie spent many years as a waitress before an accident prompted a career change. In her fifties, she returned to school, earned her GED, and graduated with a degree in Computer Information Services. She then worked in data entry and customer service at HMB Sales, a wholesale sweater company in Larchmont, remaining there until the company closed and she retired in her mid-seventies.

Margie found joy in her favorite television shows and movies, particularly game shows, detective series like Murder, She Wrote, action films such as Road House, science fiction classics like Alien, and heartwarming animal stories including Homeward Bound. She was especially fond of the show Hudson & Rex and remained a devoted fan of Elvis Presley throughout her life. She loved collecting baseball cards, knickknacks, holiday decorations, and kitchen gadgets, and she took great pride in her green thumb, tending her plants and flowers with care and generously sharing her ever-growing aloe plants with others.

Known for her sharp, sarcastic wit, kindness, and unwavering devotion to family, Margie was the person others turned to for help, advice, or a listening ear. To many she became a second mom, drawing people together with her generosity, humor, and caring spirit. She is survived by her siblings Charles Collins and Ruth Torres; her children Donald “Don” Tranquillo and his wife Nina, Patricia “Tricia” Tranquillo, Deborah “Debbie” Perry, Victoria “Tori” Kretz and her husband James, and Robert “Bobby” Richart; her grandchildren Christopher Richart, Ryan Tranquillo, Matthew Tranquillo, Kaitlin Tranquillo, Frank Perry, Damon Perry, Alyssa Kretz, and Kevin Kretz; her great-grandchildren Nichelle Perry, Josh Perry, and Drew Perry; and her beloved dog Shiloh. She was preceded in death by her husbands Thomas Tranquillo and Harold Richart, her brother Thomas Collins, and her son Chris Richart Sr. Her strength, humor, and boundless love for her family will be remembered always by those fortunate enough to have known her.
