Margie Lorene Browner passed away on March 9, 2026. Born on May 3, 1929, to Orbie Wilson West and Fleeta Williams West, she lived a life marked by quiet strength and deep devotion to family and faith.
She is survived by her children, Jerry Hall of Gallatin, Tennessee, Bill Smalling and his wife Madeline of New Jersey, Peggy Bass and her husband Allen of Portland, Tennessee, and Charles Ray Browner and his wife Juanita of Portland, Tennessee. She is also survived by her sister, Evelyn Woodard, along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought her great joy: Daniel Smalling and Lori, Amanda Luther and Casey, Allie Smalling, Samantha Gurley and Jeff, Rocky Baskerville, Leann Taylor, Jennifer Taylor, Tina Crowder and Bobby, Melissa Browner, Troy Browner and Teresa, Larry Anderson and Sue, Vicky Moser and Kirk, Jamie Love, David Leonard and Krista, Joseph Leonard and Christina, Christine Follet and Jean Claude, and great-grandchildren Owen Luther, Corbin Luther, Gannon Luther, Emma Smalling, Cooper Steelreath, and Emily Laurio.
Margie was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Browner, her parents, and her sisters Martha McDaniel and Marandy Barrett. She was the last remaining charter member of Longview Missionary Baptist Church. She found simple pleasures in reading, working puzzles, and baking for others. Known for her warm smile and generous spirit, Margie gave freely without complaint and left a lasting trail of love and kindness wherever she went. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
