Blountville, TN

Margie Irene Derting Ketron, 86, of Hiltons, passed away on March 12, 2026, after a lengthy illness, surrounded by her loving family. Born on November 29, 1939, in the Hiltons community, she was a woman of deep faith who accepted the Lord as her Savior at a young age. A longtime member of Hilton’s Free Will Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and sang with the Hilton’s Trio, Margie later attended Fellowship Free Will Baptist Church and Sunnyside Baptist Church. She retired from Sullivan County Schools after many years of dedicated service in the cafeteria.

Margie never met a stranger and possessed a warm, outgoing spirit that drew people to her. She cherished traveling with her husband Jack, together visiting all 50 states and 16 countries. Above all, she found her greatest joy in spending time with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Forest “FM” and Kate Derting; her sister, Jeanette Snapp; and her brother, William Derting.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 69 years, Jack Ketron; daughters Lisa Hensley and husband Richie, and Regina Stacy and husband Randall; sons Jerry Ketron and wife Teresa, and Benny Ketron and wife Robin; grandchildren Carrie Ketron, Lauren Sutherland, Gunnar Sutherland, Kylie Harmon and husband Levi, Kaitlyn Hammer and husband Josh, Beth Stacy, Olivia Stacy, and Justin Stacy and wife Vicki; and great-grandchildren Jace and Maddox Hammer, Beckham Judd, Reid Stacy, Aspyn Herron, and Waylon Harkleroad.
