Margie Carter Duren, 95, of Crump, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2026.
Born in Hardin County on August 31, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Ruby Butler Carter of Saltillo, Tennessee. In 1948, she married Douglas Duren, who preceded her in death in 2015.
Margie enjoyed a long career with the United States Postal Service as a rural mail carrier for more than twenty years. She was also a talented local hairdresser who operated a salon from her home. A longtime member of Crump United Methodist Church, she served as a church official and was active for many years in the Hardin County Ladies Home Demonstration Club.
She found great joy in gardening and tending her flowers, maintaining her lawn with care well into her nineties. She loved camping and trout fishing in Arkansas with family and friends, and she was an accomplished painter and seamstress whose creative works were cherished by those who knew her. Margie is survived by her sons, Keith Duren (Phoebe) of Crump and Chuck Duren (Rhonda) of Savannah; grandchildren April Morgan (Ricky), Shawn Duren (Vanessa), Tandy Olmstead, Chasity Davis (Chris), and Matthew Duren (Holly); great-grandchildren Lane-Adam Hunt, Emma Morgan, Katie Lynn Davis, Jackson Dale Davis, Hannah Olmstead, William Douglas Duren, and Cooper Matthew Duren; special friend Olgia Hubbard; and many other friends, nieces, and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Jo Frankie Thomison, and her brother, Jerry Neal Carter.
