August 28, 1929— March 9, 2026
Appleton, WI
Margery Carter Balliette passed away on March 9, 2026. Adopted as an infant by Dr. Homer and Eleanor Carter, she grew up in Madison, Wisconsin, and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelor’s Degree in English. Music remained a deeply cherished part of her life; she studied piano and cello for many years, sang in numerous choirs including the Tudor Singers of Madison, and performed as first chair cello with the Madison String Symphonia and the Madison Civic Symphony Orchestra.
In August 1951, Marge married Stanley Balliette. She found great joy in her roles as a devoted housewife and loving mother to her five children. Later in life, she worked as a teacher’s aide in Special Education for the Appleton Area School District and spent many years in retail security and customer service.
Marge is survived by her children Nancy DeDecker (Randy deceased), Craig Balliette (Brittany), Dirck Balliette (Lynda), and David Balliette; grandchildren Laura Malzon (Jeremy), James DeDecker (Lucy), Marcus Balliette, Chase Balliette, Nicole Fraley (Matthew), and Ami White; as well as many loving great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Homer and Eleanor Carter, her brother James Carter and his wife Beverly, and her son Bruce, who passed away in January 2016.
She became a child of God in 1976 and lived faithfully for the Lord from that time forward, studying the Bible, attending church, and writing countless cards and letters of encouragement to others.
