Margarete J. Troidl, 94, of Belmont, New York, passed away on March 12, 2026, at her home.
Born on March 19, 1931, in Beuthen, Germany, she was the daughter of Max and Francisca Lorek Gawlitzeck. She attended school in Beuthen before moving to the United States in 1955. A proud photographer, Margarete was the first female to operate the first photo printer in Germany. She later worked in the NICU at Millard Fillmore Hospital in Buffalo and as an aide at Wellsville Manor and Jones Memorial Hospital, and also served as a private home health aide in Wellsville.
Her children were the light of her life. Margarete was a loving mother to Sylvia Troidl of Rochester, Bonnie Carpenter of Cheektowaga, Paul Troidl of San Diego, California, Monica Troidl of Buffalo, and Edward Richie of Belmont. She was a beloved grandmother to Jason, Aaron, Christopher, Marshall, and Tiffany, and a great-grandmother to three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Hilda Mason of Seattle, Washington, as well as nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter Janny Troidl, her grandson Jeremy Dirschberger, her sister Rosal Sandman, and her brother Rudy Gawlitzeck.
