Margaret Rountree Drake

Margaret Rountree Drake, 94, entered into rest Saturday, March 7, 2026. She was a native and lifelong resident of Burke County. She had boundless energy. As soon as she woke up and had her breakfast, she was heading out the door to her farm to do what she loved best……cutting grass, pulling weeds, picking up pinecones, raking pine straw, and tending to her flowers and plants. Margaret was a member of Burkehaven Chapel and for many years, she faithfully prepared The Lord’s Table on Sunday mornings. She had a servant’s heart. She would cook meals for her family, visit her church members, and bring pies, cakes, and fresh vegetables to share with her friends. Margaret loved her Lord and Savior, her family, her farm, and her friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lamar; her parents, Lillian and Lewis Rountree; and her siblings, Buddy, Pat, Preston, Allen, Myer, Betty, Mary, Lillian, and Susie.

She is survived by two children, Rod Drake (Becky) of Canton, GA and Kay Parker (Charlie) of Augusta; four grandchildren, Lori Martin, Wil Drake, Chase Parker, and Davis Parker; six great grandchildren, Jack Martin, Margaret Martin, Miley Martin, Hadi Drake, Charles Parker, and Maggie Parker; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00am Thursday, March 12 in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Garry Morgan officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be Wil Drake, Chase Parker, Davis Parker, Larry Blanchard, Wayne Joiner, and Jerry Shaw.
