Margaret Rebman Snoddy

Margaret Rebman Snoddy

December 21, 1925 March 10, 2026

Honeoye Falls, NY

Margaret Rebman Snoddy passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026, at URMC Hospice. Born on December 21, 1925, she was the youngest of seven children and lost her mother at the age of four. Raised by her father and older siblings through the hardships of the Great Depression and World War II, those early challenges shaped her strong character and instilled a lifelong love of nature and the outdoors.

In 1944, Margaret married James Snoddy. Together they purchased a farm in Honeoye Falls, where they kept horses and raised their two daughters while devoting themselves to the land and the natural world. While her children were young, she worked from home as a seamstress. Later, she returned to school to study secretarial work and joined the business office at Genesee Hospital, where she remained until retiring at age 62. Retirement brought her great joy, allowing her more time with the family she cherished.

At age 15, Margaret won the Monroe County Cherry Pie Baking Contest, advancing to the state competition where she again took first place. At the national level, she placed second—an especially notable achievement because she had used white sugar in her pie at a time when sugar was becoming rationed as the nation entered the war effort.

Margaret was predeceased by her husband, James Snoddy, her parents, and all her siblings. She is survived by her daughters, Colleen Snoddy and Carol (Brian) Mulligan; her nieces, Margaret Richardson and Vicky Quinn, who were lovingly present during her final months; her grandsons, Dan (Amy) Mulligan, Roger (Lauren) Mulligan, and Patrick Mulligan; and her great-grandchildren, Adaleen and Rohan Mulligan. She will be deeply missed by many beloved nieces and nephews.
