Margaret Lou Parsons Oldroyd

Margaret Lou Parsons Oldroyd, age 86, of Lyman, Utah, passed away at her home on March 4, 2026. Born on August 6, 1939, in Susanville, California, to Morris Loriane and Vera Payne Parsons, she grew up in Glenwood and graduated from Richfield High School. In 1956 she married Vernon Willis Oldroyd for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. The couple made their home in Lyman, where they raised their six children. Vernon preceded her in death in 2006.

Margaret worked for many years at the local grocery store, where her warm, affectionate smile welcomed everyone she met. She knew every family in Wayne County and always gave others the benefit of the doubt. Generous to a fault, she loved deeply and freely, readily offering whatever she had to those in need. Her hands were rarely still and her heart was always open; she found quiet ways to comfort the sorrowful, rock a sleeping child, console a troubled soul, or prepare a meal for someone who needed it.

A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Margaret served in many callings throughout her life. She maintained a deeply personal relationship with God, spending long hours in nightly prayer on behalf of her family and others. Her greatest joy came from being surrounded by her loved ones.

She is survived by her children Debra Whitehead of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Sue Ann Westwood of Box Elder, South Dakota; Steve Oldroyd of Orangeville; Willis Oldroyd of Lyman; Camille Behunin of Hurricane; and Karl Oldroyd of Washington; 22 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband Vernon, her parents, her brother Bill Parsons, her sister Clara Lee VanDyke, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
