June 7, 1939— March 13, 2026
Toledo, OH
Margaret Joyce (Braatz) Witt was born on June 7, 1939, in Toledo, Ohio. She passed away peacefully on March 13, 2026, at 86 years old, surrounded by family at NW Ohio Hospice in Perrysburg, Ohio, where she received care.
She attended Central Catholic High School, where she graduated in 1957. After high school, she worked at Saint Vincent Hospital as a Dietary Technician. Once she had children, she was a homemaker, caring for her 2 children and husband. In her free time, she enjoyed baking (the best cookies ever), gardening, crocheting, and keeping a watchful eye on her neighborhood. Margaret was a strong, independent, and very feisty woman who was not afraid to share her beliefs with anyone. She was fiercely protective of her family and gave the medical staff a run for their money when her husband of 57 years, Larry, was ill in the last years of his life.
Margaret was an active member of Saint Mark's Church in Toledo, Ohio, and of The Blind Ministries, where she volunteered. Margaret met Larry Witt at Blind Camp, where he was a camper, and she was a camp volunteer. They were married on July 16, 1960, and were together until his death in 2018. Margaret was a no-nonsense woman who loved her family- her husband, her 2 children, and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always loved cats and collected many figurines, stuffed cats, shirts with cats, and anything else cat-related.
She is survived by her 2 children, Ronald (Susan) Witt, and Michelle (Joe) Crouse; her grandchildren, Cara (Tanner) Engle, Kevin (Mackenzie) Witt, Devon Crouse, Hannah Crouse; and step-grandchildren, Olivia Kaiser (Ryan Holtz), Sarah Hammer, Emma (Cole) Gatt; and 4 great-grandchildren, Harper, Henry, Blaire, and Baby Witt; 6 step-great grandchildren, Ella, Orson, Ava, Waylon, Reilly, and Clementine. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Witt, and her great-grandson, Aiden Myrice.
The family will receive friends at Eggleston Meinert and Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Rd., on Thursday, March 19, 2026, 10 am - 12 pm, visitation, with a 12 pm funeral service. Interment to follow at Roose Cemetery on Grandview Dr (Twp Rd 211), Oak Harbor, Ohio. Memorials may be directed to Saint Mark's Church in Toledo, Ohio.
