Margaret Ann Delaney
April 4, 1947— March 10, 2026
Mount Carmel, PA
Margaret Ann Delaney, affectionately known as Peggie, passed away on March 10, 2026 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, surrounded by her family. She was 78.
Born on April 4, 1947 at the former Shamokin State Hospital, she was the daughter of the late Harry H. and Mary E. (Ayres) Kolody. A 1965 graduate of Mount Carmel High School, she later attended Bloomsburg State College. On September 25, 1971, she married Jerry P. Delaney, Sr. at SS Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church in Mount Carmel.
Early in her career, Peggie worked as a secretary for the Mount Carmel School District. After starting a family, she devoted herself to raising her sons, occasionally cutting hair for family and friends at her mother’s beauty salon. When her children were older, she returned to the workforce, first at the former ACME Supermarket and later as a secretary at the Mount Carmel Nursing Home until her retirement.
Peggie cherished time spent shopping with family and friends and was especially fond of QVC. She and her husband enjoyed visiting the casinos in Atlantic City. Above all, her family was the center of her world, particularly her grandchildren. She took great interest in their activities and events, loved watching their games on television, and took immense pride in all of their accomplishments. She is survived by her husband of fifty-four years, Jerry; sons Jerry Delaney Jr. and his wife Jessica of Den-Mar Gardens, and Doug Delaney and his wife Mary of Cape May, New Jersey; grandchildren Jagr, Jaylen, Morgan, Anna, and Beth Delaney; brother Harry Kolody and his wife Lori of Mount Carmel; sister-in-law Marian Delaney of Hershey; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and her beloved dog Riley.
