January 19, 1946— March 11, 2026
Appleton, WI
Margaret A. “Margie” Lychwick, 80, of Luxemburg, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026, at Silverstone Memory Care in Appleton.
Born on January 19, 1946, in Milwaukee to William and Margaret (Prebilich) Wachal, Margie graduated from Nathan Hale High School in West Allis in 1964 and earned her degree from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. In 1965 she met Terry Lychwick while working together at Allen Bradley in Milwaukee. They married on August 23, 1969, at Mary Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in West Allis.
Margie dedicated 35 years to teaching, 32 of them with the Luxemburg-Casco School District as a middle school physical education and math teacher. She was deeply committed to her students’ growth, encouraging them to stay active, build confidence, and believe in themselves. She coached middle school track and field, taught swimming, and supported student health through Jump Rope for Heart. For many years she also served as a lead negotiator for the L-C/WEA Teachers Union, advocating for her colleagues and the community.
Outside the classroom, Margie found joy in embroidery, sewing, and crafting. She cherished gambling trips to Las Vegas with family and friends, lazy summer days by her pool, evenings watching Hallmark movies, and cheering for the Green Bay Packers. Above all, she treasured time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and held a special place in her heart for her basset hound, Daisy Mae, and cat, Kramer. She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and readiness to help anyone in need.
Margie is survived by her loving husband, Terry; daughters Stacie (Michael) Lewis of Greenbank, Washington, and Kelly (Shawn) Stender of De Pere; grandchildren Delanie Lewis, Samuel “Sammy” Stender, and Charlotte “Charlie” Stender; sister Elizabeth “Betty” (Jeff) Nolder of Greenfield; and many nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother William “Billy” Wachal, and nephew Matthias Nolder.
