Marcia (Kah) Hays ObituaryPublished by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 9, 2026.Marcia Mame (Kah) Hays died on March 8, 2026, in Long Beach, California. She was born on August 31, 1931, on Pearl Street in Wapakoneta, Ohio, where she lived until 1956 when she married Jerry L. Hays of Sidney, Ohio. Marcia graduated from Blume High School in 1949 and attended St. Paul United Church of Christ, where she was confirmed. She graduated with degrees in English and Music from Bowling Green State University in Ohio, where she was a Delta Zeta sister. Marcia later earned a teaching certificate at Ohio State University. For the rest of her life Marcia was an enthusiastic Ohio State football fan--Go Bucks! In her 60s and 70s, when she couldn't get a game on cable TV (before streaming), she'd join the guys at a local sports bar to cheer the Buckeyes on. After her wedding, Marcia moved to Princeton, New Jersey, and taught junior high school English while Jerry finished his Master of Divinity degree. They then lived in various places in Ohio and Indiana before moving permanently to California in 1974. They settled in Fountain Valley, where she taught Christian education at elementary schools and piano to neighborhood kids. She was an avid baker of sweet treats, and made clever Christmas cards by hand every year. After her three daughters left home in the mid-80s, she and Jerry divorced. Marcia then worked as the executive secretary for several decades at the Hilton Costa Mesa Hotel (starting there when it was a Red Lion). Marcia was active in Trinity United Presbyterian Church in Tustin, serving as a deacon and participating in PrimeTimers. She also was a member of the PEO Sisterhood along with many of her dear friends.Marcia leaves three daughters: Lori (John Butler), Karen (Scott Norquist), and Nancy (Cary Lewis). She also leaves two nephews, Steven Kah and Jeff Dunnavant, a niece, Ellen Kah, three grandchildren (Jeff, Jenny, and Philip) and two great-grandchildren (Olivia and Nora). She is predeceased by her beloved parents Adrian and Ethel (Pfenning) Kah; her brother and sister-in-law Alan (known as Fritzi) and Yvonne (Littman) Kah; her sister and brother-in-law Kathryn and Bill Dunnavant; and two nephews, Eric Kah and Greg Dunnavant. At her request, there will be no memorial service.
