Marcia Cummings ObituaryPublished by Legacy on Mar. 10, 2026.Marcia Kay Cummings, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away at home on Saturday March 7, 2026. She was born on September 8, 1942, at her grandparent's farm in Hicksville, Ohio. She graduated from Sexton High School in Lansing, Michigan in 1961. Propelled by her love of learning and reading, she went on to earn an associate's degree from Lansing Community College, a bachelor's degree from Michigan State University and ultimately achieving her Juris Doctor degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School at the age of 43. After becoming an attorney, she went on to clerk for Judge Thomas at the 54A District Court in Lansing and later went into private practice for many years.Marcia was dedicated to and took much joy in her family: her beloved husband and best friend who survives her, Larry Cummings, whom she married on August 12, 1961. Also surviving are their two children, Theresa (Will) Cottrell and Denise (Ray) Kenger, as well as five grandchildren, Jennifer (Halen) Kenger, Jamie (Aaron) Andrews, Tricia (Matt) Guillory, Anna Pols and Andrew (Jessica) Kenger and three great-grandchildren, Adalwulf Pols, Harrison Andrews and Claire Guillory. Marcia is also survived by her sisters, Linda (Doug) Jenkins and Barbara Nicholas, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Predeceasing her is her great-granddaughter, Penelope Guillory, a beloved sister, Dora (Ron) Williams and dear friends, Bill and Bettie Shelberg.The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff of Comfort Keepers of Lansing, Michigan for the wonderful care they provided to Marcia the last few years of her life.A Funeral Service will take place on Friday, March 13, 2026, at 11:00 am at Bethlehem Lutheran Church located at 549 E. Mt. Hope, Lansing, Michigan with visitation beginning at 10:00 am. All are invited to attend a luncheon reception that will take place immediately following the service at the church.Flowers should be delivered to Bethlehem Lutheran Church on Thursday, March 12th, between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm.Legacy.com reports daily on death announcements in local communities nationwide.
