Preserve forever →Marc Duval
Richmond, VA
Marc L. Duval passed away unexpectedly on February 9, 2026, after a brief illness.Marc was born on September 21, 1956, and raised in New Bedford, Massachusetts, where he began his career in the construction trade in his early teens. He moved to the Richmond area after meeting his wife, Kim, while working on the Crestar (now Truist) Bank building downtown. He eventually worked his way up in his chosen profession and retired in 2010 from his position as a Project Manager for the University of Richmond, having overseen numerous major construction and renovations projects on campus.Marc was a beloved husband, brother, uncle, friend and neighbor. He made friends easily and always made the effort to keep in touch with those he held dear. He had a remarkable sense of humor and absolutely loved music (often a little too loudly). He also loved taking long drives in the country in his Corvette (a little too fast). He was very generous and always wanted to help someone in need. He was an avid animal lover and was the best pet dad to our numerous dogs over the years, especially Reilly.Marc loved living in the Cold Harbor area of Hanover County in our old farmhouse ~ and was so excited when several years ago we acquired and renovated a Rappahannock River cottage.Marc was predeceased by his mother, Jacqueline Jenkins Duval; his sister, Bernice Maples and his favorite uncle, Donald Denault.Left to cherish his life and our time with him are his wife, Kim Jennings; brothers and sisters-in-law Tom and Jo Duval and Ron and Karen Duval; his aunt Claudette Denault (with whom he loved discussing politics); and his favorite cousin Michelle Laputz. We are especially grateful to his nephew, Greg Duval (Katie), who in 2014 gave Marc one of his kidneys in a living-donor transplant that enabled Marc to enjoy life without the rigors of dialysis. He is also survived by numerous other relatives, including Kim's family, whom he adopted as his southern family.Per Marc's wishes, no service has been planned. Any memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Marc would love it if you simply reached out to a friend or relative you have lost touch with ~ or helped someone in need.
