Manuel C. Villanueva

March 5, 1946 March 11, 2026

Pecos, TX

Manuel C. Villanueva, lovingly known as “Mellie,” was born on March 5, 1946, in Big Spring, Texas. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on March 11, 2026, in Pecos at the age of 80.

Manuel was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose life centered around family, hard work, and enjoying the simple moments with the people he loved. He married the love of his life, Lily Orona Villanueva, in 1968, and together they built a family filled with love, laughter, and lasting memories.

For more than 30 years, Manuel worked as a natural gas pipeline inspector for NGPL, later known as Kinder Morgan. He was known for his strong work ethic and dedication to providing for his family. He retired in 2013 after a long and respected career. In his free time, he enjoyed helping his children with their companies or any project that brought his family together. His hobbies were camping and fishing, but his greatest joy was spending time with family and friends. He was a loyal fan of the Dallas Cowboys and rarely missed watching a game. He also enjoyed reading the Pecos Enterprise every Wednesday, watching the local and national news, and loved discussing current events with his children.

Manuel is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Lily Orona Villanueva; his children Steve Villanueva (Brenda), Gabriel Villanueva (Ricela), Michelle Villanueva Subia (Russell), and Becky Gonzalez (Luis). He was a proud grandfather to 14 grandchildren and a cherished great-grandfather to 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Refugia Villanueva; his brothers, Juan and Tony Villanueva; and his sister, Mary Villanueva Holguin.

Manuel will be remembered for his love of family, his wisdom, and the many conversations and memories he shared with those who knew and loved him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
