January 30, 1943— March 3, 2026
Asheville, NC
Mamie Bundy Townsend, 83, of Guilford County, North Carolina, passed away on March 3, 2026. Born on January 30, 1943, she was the daughter of the late O.C. and Virginia Bundy. She graduated from Ragsdale High School and earned an associate’s degree in business administration from Brevard College. Mamie built a long career as an office administrator, most notably with Norton Industries.
The oldest of two children, she was preceded in death by her brother, Corwin Bundy, her parents, and her devoted husband, Gilbert Townsend. Mamie found quiet joy in simple pleasures—enjoying a good cup of coffee, creating with stamps and cards, working word search puzzles, and watching the Hallmark Channel. Above all, she cherished her family and greeted every loved one with her warm, genuine smile.
She was a loving mother to her daughters, Ginger Stephenson (Mark) and Patience Scott (Michael). Her grandchildren—Megan (Tobie), Tyler (Leah), Dalton (Krystan), and Michaela—were among her greatest treasures. In her later years, her great-grandchildren, Bryce, Lucy, Navy, and Ruby, brought her special delight and light. A woman of strong faith, Mamie was a devoted churchgoer whose gentle spirit and love for the Lord remained steadfast even as breast cancer and dementia challenged her health in recent years.
Mamie will be remembered for her quiet strength, her enduring faith, and the deep love she poured into her family. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, devotion, and grace that will continue in all who knew and loved her.
