Maggie McAlister

Maggie McAlister, 69, of Charleroi, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 13, 2026. Born on October 26, 1956, she was the daughter of the late Philip and Margaret (Foster) Smith.

Maggie spent her career as a cafeteria worker for the Charleroi Area School District, where her talents as an excellent cook, baker, and Christmas candy maker were widely appreciated. She was a longtime member of the Charleroi Russian Club and found deep satisfaction in caring for her family’s cemetery plots.

She is survived by her husband, Bert McAlister; her brother, Stuart (Chris) Smith; her sisters, Sara (Larry) Phillips, Frances Bujanowski, Laverne (Gary) Cozakos, Debbie Steinmeyer, and Tina (Alan) Traweek; her sister-in-law, Donna Smith; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She also leaves behind her beloved cat, Midnight.

In addition to her parents, Maggie was predeceased by her daughter, Kaitlin McAlister, on February 4, 2026; her brothers, Chesney and Brian Smith; and her in-laws, Brian McAlister, Susie Dezarn, Linda McAlister, and Debbie Jobes.
