Mafalda Risi

RISI, MAFALDA (Née Morrocco) - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mafalda Risi on Friday, March 13, 2026, with her family by her side at Niagara Health Marotta Family Hospital in her 89th year. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Claudio. She will be deeply missed by her sons Aldo (Norma), Domenic (Sandra), and her daughter Elizabeth (John) Pankoff. She was a proud and loving Nonna to Jessica (Ben) and Katelyn (Bayardo) Risi, Ryan, Krista and Melissa Pankoff, who will forever remember her sweet voice reminding them, "I love you lots, lots, lots." As the last surviving member of her siblings and having been predeceased by her parents, Mafalda will be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews. Born on November 29, 1937, in Rocca d'Evandro, Italy, Mafalda later moved to Thorold, Ontario, with her beloved husband, Claudio, where they built a life together and raised their family. Mafalda was a devoted wife, mother, and Nonna and was happiest when surrounded by her family—cooking for them, sharing meals, and spending time tending to her garden. Her warmth, generosity, and love for those around her will always be remembered. Mafalda's family will receive their family and friends at BOCCHINFUSO FUNERAL HOME, 2 Regent Street, Thorold on Thursday, March 19, 2026, from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 -8:00 PM. Vigil prayers will be recited at 3:30 PM. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 21 Queen Street South, Thorold on Friday at 10:00 AM. The Rite of Committal to follow at Lakeview Cemetery Mausoleum, Thorold.
