Madelon Jackson ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Reasner Funeral Home - Wellsburg on Feb. 27, 2026.Madelon Dawn Jackson, 82, a beloved resident of Wellsburg, West Virginia, passed awaypeacefully surrounded by her loved ones on Thursday, February 26, 2026. She was thedaughter of the late Marvin and Ada (Bullock) Platter born on November 1,1943.Madelon was a cornerstone of her community, remembered most vividly as the visionaryfounder of the Brooke Hills Spooktacular. Her passion for bringing joy and festive mystery tothe Brooke County area transformed the local park into a seasonal destination, creatingmemories for generations of families. Madelon worked as the secretary for Reasner FuneralHome for many years. She served on the Brooke Hills Park Board, and she became a fixture atBrooke Hills Playhouse, where she brought the plays and musicals to life through costumingand spfx makeup. Madelon's passion for her community didn't go unnoticed, In 2002 Madelonwas awarded the Wellsburg Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year.Beyond her community contributions, Madelon was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Lonney Howard Jackson, hernephew Scott Jackson, and her beloved friends Mark Kowcheck, and Sissy Gri th.Her legacy is carried on by her two sons, Doug Jackson (Emily Hores) and Chris Jackson, all ofWellsburg, WV. Her grandchildren, Katie Castellucci of Boston, MA, and Brynna Jackson ofWellsburg, WV. Her siblings, Marvin Platter, Jr. (Kathy Platter) of Avella, PA, and Ruth Ann Platter Stewart (Tom Stewart) of Melbourne, FL. Special extended family, Theresa Reed Kowcheck, Jentzen Kowcheck, Karleigh Kowcheck, Joei Platt (Rich Fletcher), Kay Weimer (Brent Weimer). Her nieces and nephews, Jami Packer (Morgan Kent), Cari Jo Diserio, Dustin Platter (Yareni Platter), Kaycee Platter, Ty Platter (Dani Platter), Heidi Jackson, Lisa Sale, Ashly Jackson, Bernie Jackson, as well as many other loving nieces, nephews and cousins.The family would like to recognize and thank Valley Hospice and Ann's Country Retreat for allthe loving care they have provided to Madelon and our family.Services will be held at Reasner Funeral Home in Wellsburg, WV on Saturday, March 21, 2026. Visitation will be held from 4:00 until a Celebration of Madelon's Life at 6:00pm.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
