Mack Merritt Cox

Mack Merritt Cox, age 88, of Hideaway, Texas, passed away on March 10, 2026, in Tyler, Texas. Born on June 18, 1937, in Dallas, Texas, to the late William McKinley and Helen (Merritt) Cox, he lived a life marked by service, curiosity, and quiet devotion to family. After many years in the United States Navy where he specialized in intelligence, Mack retired and later made his home in Hideaway for the past sixteen years. He was a longtime resident of both Dallas and San Benito, Texas, and a faithful member of the Hideaway Lake Community Church.

Mack found joy in playing tennis, reading, traveling, and cheering for Baylor Football. He was preceded in death by his sister, Sarah Williamson.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Cox of Hideaway; his children, Heather Gandy and husband Anthony of Warrenville, Illinois, Aimee Diggs and husband Kevin of Eddy, Texas, and Bradley Kerrigan and wife Cheryl of Durant, Oklahoma; grandchildren Gracie Diggs and Brooke Kirhofer and husband Jake; and many other loving family members and friends.
