Mack Allen Mahan Sr

August 17, 1934 March 13, 2026

Chattanooga, GA

Mack A. Mahan, 91, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, entered into eternal rest on March 13, 2026, following a six-week battle that began after hip surgery in early February. Born on August 17, 1934, in Ider, Alabama, to Bertha Smith Mahan and James Columbus Mahan, he grew up in Trenton, Georgia, and graduated from Davis High School. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Elora Ann Flanigan and Virginia L. Dean, brother James C. Mahan Jr., nephew Michael D. Flanigan, and his beloved wife of 63 years, Virginia “Jo” Mahan.

Mack enjoyed a long and entrepreneurial career. He worked for many years at W.L. Jackson Co. before founding his own successful chain of health spas across the South in 1967. In the mid-1970s he lived in Surfside Beach, South Carolina, before returning to Chattanooga, where he and his son Allen established a contracting, repair, and renovation business. He retired in the late 1990s.

He is survived by his son, Allen Mahan and wife Ann of Evensville, Tennessee; daughter, Lisa Mahan-Henry of Chattanooga, Tennessee; five grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Mack cherished time spent with his family, loved the beach, watching sports, playing golf, dancing, traveling, and eating out. He was known for his wonderful sense of humor and his faithful attendance at Cowboy Church in Rock Springs, Georgia. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
