Wilmington, NC
Lynn Diane Allen, 76, of Wilmington, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026, at Novant Regional Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on December 24, 1949, in Lexington, Nebraska, to Darrell and Frances Hollibaugh, Lynn spent her childhood moving throughout the Midwest as her family followed her father’s work with the United States Army Corps of Engineers. She lived in Pierre, South Dakota, Onawa, Iowa, Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, and Littleton, Colorado, before graduating from Littleton High School in 1968. On July 19, 1969, she married Roger L. Allen in Sloan, Iowa. The couple shared 46 years of marriage until Roger’s passing. Together they had one son, Brian.
Lynn devoted many years to caring for children and later became a beloved fixture at the Salix Tavern in Iowa, where she worked for more than 25 years and was well known throughout the community. Her greatest joy was her family and friends. She cherished trips to the casino, playing bingo, and traveling to North Carolina to spend time with loved ones.
She is survived by her son, Brian (Laura) Allen of Wilmington, North Carolina; granddaughters Chloe Allen of Greenville, North Carolina, and Sara Allen of Wilmington, North Carolina; her sister, Cindy (Craig) Smith of Loveland, Colorado; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Darrell and Frances (Barth) Hollibaugh; sisters Sharon Kay Hollibaugh and Vicki Thomas; brother Terry Hollibaugh; and her husband, Roger Allen.
