Lyndia Margarita Smith

Mrs. Lyndia Margarita Smith, age 73 of Ellijay, Georgia, passed away on March 11, 2026. Born on January 3, 1953 in Douglassville, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Johnson and the late Ester Inez Orr Johnson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Gail Fowler and Virginia Rabern.

Lyndia loved cats, her family, and the Lord. She worked for many years as a medical laboratory technician at WellStar Cobb Hospital, where she formed many meaningful friendships and genuinely cared for the people around her. She had a special appreciation for flowers and the beauty of nature, and she found great joy in caring for the cats she cherished. Her faith was central to her life, and she was a faithful member of Revolution Church in Jasper, Georgia. She will be remembered for her kind heart, her devotion to those she loved, and the warmth she brought to everyone she met.

She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Marcus Smith of Ellijay; two daughters, Katie (Lyndon) Mayfield of Ellijay and Christie Smith of Atlanta; her sister, Mary Frances Landers of Perry, Georgia; and two grandchildren, Brynna Mayfield and Georgia Mayfield.
