Lynda Woodruff ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Collins-Burke Funeral Home on Mar. 16, 2026.Lynda Earse Woodruff, 81, passed away March 14, 2026 at her home in Madison, AL after a courageous battle with cancer.Born October 28, 1944, Lynda was the third of 5 children of parents Hutchie and Modenia Rigsby. The family lived in Manchester, AL. At 19 years old, Lynda married Billie Eugene Woodruff (U.S. Air Force) and soon thereafter; flying for the first time in her life, flew to Hahn AFB, Germany, to meet Billie. Thus began a life of several moves to different Air Force bases in multiple states.Lynda spent her life caring for her family, providing love and stability during husband Bill's military deployments and work away from home. She was an avid fan of Alabama football and she and husband Bill enjoyed watching women's college softball for many years. Lynda enjoyed working in her community wherever she lived; especially helping young girls and women by volunteering with the Girl Scouts and at crisis pregnancy centers. Above all else, she loved serving her Lord, however He directed, and served her church by teaching Sunday school.Mrs. Woodruff was preceded in death by her Husband-Billie Eugene Woodruff; Son-in-Law-Johnny Ray Gresham; Son-in-Law-Lewis Merritt; Parents-Hutchie Rigsby and Modenia Williams Rigsby and Sister-Ruth Kelly.She is survived by her Son-Scott Woodruff (Krystle); Daughters-Janet Gresham and Tracy Merritt; Sisters-Bea Kunz (Mike) and Judy Pink (Michael); Brother-J.T. Rigsby; 5 Grandchildren-Victoria Downing (Hunter), Elizabeth Gresham, Wesley Merritt, Catherine Merritt and Joshua Merritt and 1 Great Grandchild-Kinsley Downing.Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Collins-Burke Funeral Home in Jasper, AL, funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Collins-Burke Chapel. Graveside services will follow at Bennett Cemetery. Michael Lally will officiate.Pallbearers will be Josh Merritt, Wesley Merritt, Randy England, Josh Kilpatrick, Roby Brock and Darren Holliman.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
