White, Jr, age 86, of Niceville, Florida, passed away on March 7, 2026. He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Mary Catherine, daughter Martha Keeler (Brian) of Hudson, NY, son John White (Pamela) of Fort Myers, FL, grandchildren Catherine White, Sean Keeler, Scott White, and Caroline Keeler Locascio (Michael), and sisters Ellen Pearson and Louise Holland (Jeff). He was predeceased by his brother William White (Sally) in 2019.Jerry entered West Point from the State of Florida and graduated in 1961. He served 29 years as an Infantryman. He commanded an Infantry company, battalion, and brigade, served two combat tours in Vietnam and was decorated for valor five times. He was Chief of Staff of the 2nd Infantry Division and was the Deputy Commandant of the Infantry School. Jerry received an MA from Middlebury College and served as an assistant professor at West Point. His military schools included the Armed Forces Staff College and the Army War College. Among his military decorations he has five Legions of Merit, five Bronze Stars - four for valor under fire, Combat Infantryman's Badge, Master Parachutist Badge, and Ranger Tab. After retirement from the Army, he worked as a financial planner in Columbus, GA.He was an active member of St. Jude's Episcopal Church, Bluewater Bay men's golf association and past president of the West Point Society of NW Florida.A memorial service will be held on March 28, 2026 at 11am at St. Jude's Episcopal Church, 200 Partin Drive N, Niceville, FL 32578. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude's Episcopal Church.
