Sterling Heights, MI
Lyle Elaine Malenfant, cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026, in Sterling Heights, Michigan. Born on August 6, 1937, in Calumet, Michigan, she lived a life rich in love, laughter, and deep connection to nature and family.
As a single mother, Lyle’s proudest accomplishment was raising her three children, Lori, Ken, and Michael (Dawn). Her unwavering dedication created countless cherished memories. She taught them to appreciate the natural world and to face their fears with courage, standing with them during storms to count the seconds between lightning and thunder, turning apprehension into calm. Afternoons in the garden picking cherry tomatoes and tending vibrant flowers reflected her abiding love for nature and the simple joys of life.
Lyle delighted in sharing experiences with her family, from learning to play baseball together to friendly Jeopardy competitions. Her goodnight kisses and great sense of humor filled their days with warmth and affection. She found joy in gardening, listening to The Moody Blues and The Guess Who, and expressing her creativity through sewing, painting, and baking.
Lyle leaves behind her grandchildren Corey, Lauren, and Evan, and her great-granddaughter Penelope Kay, along with her six siblings, Gary, Karen, Nancy (Nick), Tom (Nancy), David, and Deborah, and many nieces and nephews who held her dear. She was predeceased by her parents, Harry and Irene Niemi, her brother Daniel, and her siblings-in-law Darlene, Sam, and Donald. Her spirit endures in the loving bonds she created and the lives she touched so gently.
