March 20, 1958— March 9, 2026
Murrells Inlet, SC
Lydia Ann Watson passed away peacefully at home on March 9, 2026. Born in Columbia, South Carolina, on March 20, 1958, she was the daughter of Mildred Ann Blackwell and Robert Alston Blackwell. A graduate of Cardinal Newman High School, Class of 1976, Lydia lived with a vibrant energy that touched everyone around her.
She shared a lifelong love with her husband, Chuck, whom she met in high school. Their bond endured until his passing, and Lydia often said two and a half years apart was long enough. She found comfort knowing they were reunited, enjoying what she called their eternal Key West in the sky.
An ocean soul at heart, Lydia felt most at home by the beach. She tended gardens with particular affection for daisies and coaxed tomatoes from the most stubborn soil. A gifted artist, she spent countless hours drawing and crafting jewelry. Above all, she cherished her son, Allen, and remained his greatest champion and supporter.
Lydia is remembered for her kindness and quiet compassion. She carried toys to leave on the unmarked graves of children in cemeteries, hoping to bring them a moment of joy. She is survived by her son, Allen, her siblings Kimberly Horonzy and Butch Blackwell, and her niece Devin Horonzy. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister Robin Blackwell, her brother-in-law Roger Horonzy, and many beloved pets.
