Luis E Villalobos

Luis E. Villalobos, known affectionately as Lou, passed peacefully on March 9, 2026, at the age of 87. Born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, to Higinio and Selenia Villalobos, he lived in Pompton Plains and formerly in Stockholm, New Jersey. He was predeceased by his parents, his loving wife Carole Vander Berg in 2019, and his brother William in 2022. Lou is survived by his sister Violeta “Vicki” Valle of Delaware, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Frank and Kathy Giangrande of Clifton, and many generations of nieces and nephews who cherished their Uncle Lou.

Lou carried his camera with him everywhere, finding deep joy in capturing life’s moments through his lens. He held a profound love for aviation and spent countless hours photographing airplanes in flight. He meticulously logged every detail, including each aircraft’s tail number, then carefully transferred that information to the backs of his printed photographs, often after researching the plane’s ownership and history.

His family will remember him for his quiet dedication, his warm presence, and the way he turned everyday scenes and soaring aircraft into lasting records of beauty and wonder.
