Lucy Mae Matthews

Lucy Mae Matthews was born on April 24, 1949, to the late Preston and Carrie Turnetine (Robert White). She departed this life on March 6, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Lucy was a devoted member of B2 Ministries under the leadership of Pastors Nathaniel and Angelia Thornton. A loving mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend, she took great joy in helping to raise many of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. After high school, she worked in a school cafeteria and later as a housekeeper. For more than thirty years, she proudly served as a Mary Kay Consultant.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son and daughter-in-law, Melvin and Twila Matthews; four sisters, Lonzetta Armstrong, Sadie Thurnetine, Lenora Tensley, and JennieBelle Lewis; three brothers, O.V. Turnetine, Robert Summerville, and Columbus Summerville; two grandsons; and one great-grandson.

Lucy leaves to cherish her memory her two sons, Travis Matthews of Star City, Arkansas, and Toney (LaRhonda) Matthews of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; two daughters, Jennette (James) Goldsmith of Fort Worth, Texas, and Emmely Matthews of Monticello, Arkansas; twenty-five grandchildren; forty-eight great-grandchildren; twelve great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved her dearly.
