Lucille Virginia Kitts of Brunswick, Maryland, passed away peacefully at the Klein Hospice House in Mount Airy, Maryland, on March 10, 2026, at the age of 88. Born in Frederick, Maryland, to the late James Silvilis Dixon and Lola Christine Holler Dixon of Brunswick, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, John David Kitts, Jr., their daughter Marilin Virginia Allison, grandson Lewis Warren Allison III, and daughter-in-law Teressa Blickenstaff-Kitts.
Mrs. Kitts worked as an aide with disabled children and later as a manager at a convenience store, the Red Coach Restaurant and Bar, and the Hawaiian nightclub. She found great joy in simple pleasures, spending many hours canning, relaxing on her front porch swing while watching hummingbirds, and savoring crabs and seafood with family and friends. Above all, she cherished her loved ones, offering them unwavering love and presence throughout her life.
She is survived by her son John Kitts and his wife Anne of New Braunfels, Texas; her daughter Michelle Kitts-Boismenu and her husband Paul of Brunswick, Maryland; her brothers James Milton Dixon and his wife Patsy of Boonsboro, Maryland, and Thomas Melvin Dixon and his wife Theresa of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia; her son-in-law Lewis Warren Allison, Jr. of Brunswick; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and her beloved dog, Harley. She will also be deeply missed by her four special friends: Delores Garten of Daytona, Florida, Brenda Allen of Middletown, Maryland, Vicky Smith of Shanondale, West Virginia, and Gordy Thompson of Sharpsburg, Maryland.
