Lucille Gilbert

Lucille Gilbert, née Guysenir, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026, at the age of 91. She was the loving mother of Renee Gilbert and Paul Bayliss, and Aliza Gilbert and Martin Coonen; cherished grandmother of Thomas Bayliss; adored daughter of the late Isadore and Sarah Guysenir; and much-loved sister of the late Lawrence and Mildred Guysenir, and the late Dr. Maurice and Jewel Guysenir. She was a treasured aunt, great-aunt, cousin, and friend to many.

Born and raised in Albany Park, Lucille attended Senn High School, where she formed lifelong friendships she held dear throughout her life. Deeply proud of her Jewish heritage, she had a passion for Yiddish and remained an active member of Am Yisrael Conservative Congregation in Northfield. She was a founding member of her B’nai B’rith chapter and a dedicated member of Hadassah. Lucille delighted in bringing family and friends together, especially while hosting during the High Holidays. She also cherished music and the arts.

She found great joy in her home in Northfield, where she spent peaceful hours birdwatching and observing the deer that visited the natural surroundings of her condo. Above all, her family was her greatest source of happiness, particularly her beloved grandson, Thomas. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
