Lucia Slutzkin, age 66, of Middletown, Connecticut, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by the love of her family. Lucia was born on August 9, 1959, in Melilli, Sicily, to Giuseppa Bongiorno and the late Raffaele “Lello” Bongiorno.On September 11, 1983, she married the love of her life, Ronald Slutzkin, with whom she shared many years of love, family, and memories.Lucia was known for always being there for others. Her family meant everything to her, and she devoted her life to caring for those she loved. She was a loving wife, a devoted mother, and an especially proud and adoring grandmother who cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren.Lucia worked for many years in banking and was a dedicated banker at People’s Bank, Citizens Bank, and Webster Bank. Through her work she built many relationships and was known for her kindness and reliability.Outside of work, Lucia loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She enjoyed watching the Food Network and never missed a chance to watch her favorite movie, Mamma Mia! She loved traveling and going out to eat. And you cannot forgot shopping at her favorite store Chico’s and always looked forward to her trips to Florida. These simple joys brought her great happiness. She was a great wife, a great mother, a great grandmother and great daughter. And a wonderful person all that knew her. And let’s not forget how well she could cook.Lucia is survived by her husband, Ronald Slutzkin; her children, Lello Brian Slutzkin Bongiorno and his wife Sinngride Slutzkin Bongiorno, and Melissa Slutzkin and her partner Kevin Hinton; and her beloved grandchildren Luciana Slutzkin, Amilia Derosier, Kylie Rose Zaccor Slutzkin, La’Kayla, Angel, and Karmélina Slutzkin Bongiorno. She is also survived by her loving mother, Giuseppa Bongiorno; her sisters, Loredona Fogarty and Fulvia Lancia and her husband Chris Lancia. Lucia was predeceased by her father, Raffaele “Lello” Bongiorno.She will be remembered for her big heart, her devotion to her family, and the love she gave so freely and unconditionally to those around her. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on through the family she cherished so dearly. Her love, laughter, and devotion to her family will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.Friends May call on Wednesday, March 11th, at Biega Funeral Home 3 Silver Street, Middletown, from 5 to 7pm. A Funeral Liturgy will be held at Saint Sebastian Church, 155 Washington St., Middletown on Thursday, March 12th at 10am. Burial will follow at Saint Sebastian Cemetery.
