Loyola was born on January 3rd, 1933 in La Jara, Colorado, the daughter of Juan Medina and Juanita Rivera Medina. She was the youngest of 9 siblings, who all preceded her in death.Loyola was united in marriage to Fred DeHerrera on May 19th, 1950 in Alamosa,Colorado.Many people will remember Loyola as a laundry attendant at B&D Laundromat where she worked for 25 years until her retirement, where she made countless friends and memories. Loyola was very active in her faith at the Sacred Heart Catholic church, where she was involved with the Catholic daughters, volunteering at St. Vincent De Paul thrift store and taught religious education for many years.She was known to be very generous,caring and her home was always filled with children, friends and family. In her younger days she enjoyed fishing,hunting, camping and looking for arrowheads at her cabin in New Mexico. She was an avid reader, she loved puzzles, playing cards and going to the casino. But most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially raising her grandchildren and her great grandchildren.She is survived by her children, Dolly (Mike) Maestas, Albert (Sharon) DeHerrera, Corey (Wendy) DeHerrera; Grandchildren, Mike (Jennifer) Maestas Jr., Brian Maestas, Jerermy (Lindy) DeHerrera, Nathan DeHerrera, Bryce (Yanira) Owens, Skylar (Ian) Mercek, Samantha DeHerrera, Basil Martinez, Shalane (Billy) Klingler, Tammy DeLata, Vanessa DeHerrera, Freddie DeHerrera.Great Grandchildren, Taylor (Ethan) Dobbeck, Ethan Maestas, Basil Martinez II, Stephanie Martinez, Kayla Klingler, Teddy Klingler, Billy Klingler, Mason DeHerrera, Miley DeHerrera, Mckynlee DeHerrera, Maddox DeHerrera, and Sunday Mercek. As well as by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.She was preceded in death by her husband Fred, her son Mark and her daughter Paulette, her two grandsons Eric and Lane DeHerrera.There will be a public visitation on Wednesday March 18th,2026 from 1:00pm-3:00pm at the Romero Funeral Home chapel in Alamosa. Thursday March 19th, 2026 there will be a rosary at 9:30am at the Sacred Heart Church Alamosa, followed by a funeral mass at 10:00am, Interment will follow at the Alamosa cemetery.
