Loyd McComb’s colorful life came to a close on March 3, 2026, at Avera Sister James Care Center. He was well known for his deep passion for metal detecting and coin collecting, spending countless happy hours at flea markets and auctions. Loyd made friends easily and cherished the many relationships he formed within the metal detecting and coin collecting communities. He often spoke with fondness of a memorable metal detecting trip to Spain in 2001 with Les and Judy Taylor.
He is survived by his niece, Karleen Powell, who made many trips from Kansas City to visit him. In accordance with his wishes, Karleen will take his remains back to his family in Arkansas.
Karleen wishes to express her heartfelt thanks to all who cared for Loyd during his final days, especially the nursing staff at Sister James Care Center and the many friends who visited him there.
