Lowell Kimble ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Home for Funerals - Norfolk on Mar. 16, 2026.Funeral services for Lowell Kimble, age 83, of Norfolk, Nebraska will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 20, 2026, at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Norfolk. Reverend Robert Wiest will officiate, with burial in New Lutheran Cemetery in Norfolk.Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.Home for Funerals in Norfolk is in charge of arrangements.Lowell died Sunday, March 15, 2026, at Stanton Health Center in Stanton, Nebraska.Lowell Kimble was the oldest of five children born to Gerald and Lillian (Zumbrum) Kimble in Pierce County, Nebraska on May 24, 1942. He attended Randolph and Pierce High Schools and graduated from Norfolk High School in 1960.He earned an Associate of Arts in Education degree from Norfolk Junior College in 1962, a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Wayne State College in 1964, and a Master of Arts in Education from the University of South Dakota in 1971. Lowell majored in music and speech, which he taught from 1965-74 at schools in Pilger, Bloomfield, and Creighton.Lowell married Diane Heckman on August 18, 1962, at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hadar. They lived in Wayne, Pilger, and Bloomfield and worked as teachers during the early years of their marriage. They later made their home in Norfolk where they purchased the former Perry Hotel, Verges Hospital, and other properties that they remodeled and turned into rental properties. Lowell also specialized in collecting, restoring, and selling antique automobiles and parts.He was well known both locally and nationally for his expertise in early antique automobiles, especially Ford models, and was a long-time member of the Early Ford V8 club. Lowell was very active in his church and community. Lowell served as the choir director at Mount Olive for many years and was a member of the Norfolk Antique Auto Club and Norfolk LaVitsef community band. He also enjoyed crossword puzzles, sudoku, and Lawrence Welk.Lowell is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Diane; their three sons, James (Tina) Kimble of East Hanover, New Jersey; Paul (Cherie) Kimble of Papillion and their children Lindsey and Cameron; and Troy (Kellie) Kimble of Wisner and their children Shelby and Tyler. He also leaves behind four siblings: his brother, Glen (Lois) Kimble and his sisters Diane Harris, Janie Olson, and Patty (Randy) Reed in addition to other extended family members and friends.He will be missed greatly, but we are comforted by the knowledge that he is now with his Lord and Savior and no longer in pain.Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.homeforfuneralsinc.com.To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Lowell Kimble, please visit our floral store.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
