Lowell E. Buttrum

Lowell E. Buttrum, 83, of East Peoria, Illinois, passed away at his residence on March 12, 2026.

Born on December 6, 1942, in Perks, Illinois, to Walter E. and Mary (Price) Buttrum, Lowell served his country as a U.S. Army veteran from 1964 to 1967 during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he completed an apprenticeship and became a proud union electrician. In retirement, he returned to Pope County, where he fulfilled a lifelong passion by raising Black Angus cattle and tending the farm he loved.

Lowell cherished his family above all else and treasured every moment spent with them. He is survived by his children, Brian (Darlene) Buttrum of Big Rock, Tennessee, Daryl Buttrum of East Peoria, Illinois, and Duane Buttrum of Galesburg, Illinois; grandchildren, Darryl (Dana) Dunn, Nichole (Alec) Minton, Gregory Buttrum, and Jersey Harrison-Buttrum; great-grandchildren, Devin Dunn, Vincent Dunn, Madison Dunn, and Axel Minton; and his sister, Barbara Morgan of Bowling Green, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his parents.
