Louise Reese Armstrong

Louise Reese Armstrong, age 97, passed away on March 12, 2026, in Nashville, Tennessee. Born on May 25, 1928, on a farm outside Shelbyville, Tennessee, she was the eldest daughter of the late Thomas Benton Reese and Mary Callie Brown of Bedford County.

She married Robert Francis Armstrong on July 4, 1947, and they shared a loving marriage until his death on August 13, 2014. Louise was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who found great joy in sewing clothes for her twin daughters as they grew up, tending her garden, and baking for her family. Her quiet dedication to those she loved remained a constant throughout her long life.

She is survived by her daughters, Mary Lezette Thomason (Michael) and Dorothy Annette White (late John White), both of Nashville; her granddaughters, Anne Friedland (Mike) of Nashville and Elizabeth Auden of Los Alamos, New Mexico; her great-granddaughter, Katherine Reese Auden; her sister, Mary Emogene Brandon of Shelbyville; and many nieces and nephews.

Louise and Francis were longtime members of Shelbyville Mills Baptist Church, First Baptist Church in Tullahoma, and Bellevue Baptist Church in Nashville. At her request, there will be no funeral service. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Willow Mount Cemetery in Shelbyville.
