Louise Kirbyson

Port Carling, ON

Louise Kirbyson (née Hammell), born on October 2, 1943, at Huntsville Hospital, passed away peacefully at Andy’s House on March 12, 2026, at the age of 82, following a long and courageous battle with cancer.

She was the beloved wife of the late Bev Kirbyson and a devoted mother to Grant Kirbyson (Elaine), Brian Kirbyson, and Beth Pepin (Claude). Louise was a proud and loving grandmother to Kelsey Matthews (Michael), Meagan Gibson (Luc), Kameron Kirbyson, Brynn Kirbyson, Jessie Pepin, and Carling Jenkerson (Colby), and a cherished great-grandmother to Mason, Julia, Charlie, and Addison.

Born to the late Elmer and Jessie (Coutts) Hammell, Louise spent her childhood in Raymond before making Port Carling her home for more than 60 years. She was predeceased by her sister Marjorie Brown (Merv) and is lovingly remembered by her sisters Lynda Blanchard (Terry), Jean Sadler (Bill), and Norma Bezzant (Dave), as well as her brother-in-law Alex Goerk (Leona) and many nieces and nephews.

Louise was well known and deeply connected within her Muskoka community. An avid curler for over 45 years, she also found great pleasure in playing Bid Euchre and Bridge with friends at the Bracebridge Seniors Centre and the Utterson “Live Wires.” She loved travelling with family and friends, creating lasting memories along Canada’s East Coast and on trips to Ireland, Scotland, Portugal, and various southern destinations. At home, she enjoyed watching game shows and the Toronto Blue Jays, observing birds and deer from her view over Brandy Lake, and tending to her beautiful flower gardens. She will be remembered for her warmth, competitive spirit, and the many quiet joys she shared with those she loved.
