Louis Blanchard

Claville Louis Blanchard, Jr., age 79, of Amite, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond, Louisiana. Born in New Orleans to Claville Louis “CL” and Antoinette Zuppardo Blanchard on January 29, 1947, Louis was a native of Gentilly who later made his home in Amite. Between 1983 and 2000 he spent part of each year in Telluride, Colorado, and in recent years also enjoyed time in Milbridge, Maine. A 1965 graduate of St. Aloysius, he was a longtime member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local Union #60 and established Blanchard Mechanical Contractors, Inc. in 1982.

Louis is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sharon Howard Blanchard; his daughter, Michelle Blanchard Dees and husband Brian of Amite; son, Donald Blanchard and wife Keri of Amite; and daughter, Renée Blanchard Carpenter and husband Frederick of Amite. He is also survived by his 11 grandchildren: Amy Woodard (Trent) of Gonzales, Patrick Dees (Jessica) of Amite, Daniel Dees (Brianne) of Hammond, Danny Edwards Jr. of Hammond, Baylor Blanchard of Telluride, Colorado, Zachary Edwards (Bailey) of Hammond, Kaleb Hebert of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Carter Blanchard of Jackson, Mississippi, Benjamin Dees of Amite, Anna Blanchard of Suwanee, Georgia, and Sam Blanchard of Fayetteville, Arkansas; and 10 great-grandchildren. He leaves behind his sister, Mary Lynn Blanchard Crumb of Kenner, along with 10 nephews and one niece.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Debbie Wild O’Regan; nieces Hala Hegab and Bonnie Punch; and nephews Josh Punch and Matthew Dubreuil.
