Louisville, KY

Louis Anthony Pollio (known as Louie or Lou), 79, passed away at home on Sunday, March 8, 2026 after a month long battle with heart issues.

Born on May 9, 1946, Louie grew up in the upper Highlands and was a graduate of St. Xavier High School – Class of 1965. He lived in Louisville his entire life except for the 4 years he served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam conflict (1967 - ‘71).

He was thrilled to be a participant in the Honor Flight Network to visit the War Memorials in D.C. with his military son-in-law Jeff Foster and his good friend and Navy buddy Victor Balassone.

Throughout his life, Louie poured his heart into his work, building his screen-printing business, Crown Specialty, from the ground up with great success.

Louie was very proud of his Italian roots, and this came through loud & clear with his great love and extraordinary talent for cooking big family-style meals with lots of pasta, his special Italian meatballs and homemade sauce recipes handed down from his Mother & Grandma). True to form, he also spent countless hours researching his family heritage, voraciously absorbing every detail of his findings, and organizing numerous family reunions, both in and out of town.

During his later years, he also enjoyed watching Shuffle Dancing and music videos on YouTube, reminiscing with friends, hanging with his dog Dexter and eating out! Louie touched many lives with his outgoing personality, his lighthearted spirit and his genuine interest in others.

Louie was proceeded in death by his parents, Joseph A. Polio and Julia R. (Tino) Polio, also by his brother John M. Pollio (Raylene) and his deceased wives: Andrea Passafiume (mother of his son Anthony) and his second wife Lynn (Dygert) Pollio.

Louie leaves behind his beloved wife, Christina (Vento) Pollio; sisters, Sheree (Polio) Lally and Maria (Polio) Monroe (Steve), Philomena (Polio) O’Connor, Mary C. (Polio) Wright; his brothers, Marty Pollio, Julio Polio (Barbara), Joe Polio Jr., and Steve Polio (Melissa); his son, Anthony L. Pollio (Kim); and 2 granddaughters, Liza and Ande.  He is also survived by his 4 stepchildren,   Lisa Rerisi (Shane), Theresa Foster (Jeff), Patricia Hickey (Tony), and Ricky Rerisi (Keanu) who were very dear to him; as well as a long list of beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
