Lou Carolyn Stowers Gromaski
August 28, 1955— March 5, 2026
West Columbia, TX
Lou Carolyn Stowers Gromaski, 70, passed away on March 5, 2026, at her home in the loving presence of her family.
Born on August 28, 1955, in Waco, Texas, to Stanley and Liz Stowers, Lou was a devoted wife and mother who spent many years homemaking and homeschooling her children. In 2007 she earned her nursing license and cared for the elderly and disabled, yet her deepest joy remained at home with her family. She was known for her beautiful cake decorating and crocheting, her skill in the kitchen, and the countless delicious meals and desserts she prepared. Lou had a special gift for making holidays magical through generous décor, food, and love. She cherished fall and passed along her delight in pumpkins, leaves, and all things fun and spooky to her daughters. She loved fishing and running 5K races with her children and grandchildren, and she created lasting memories through family travels that took them from mountain landscapes to the deserts of Nevada and the apple orchards of Connecticut.
Her children remember her witty sense of humor, her steady encouragement, and the small, meaningful ways she showed love—seeing her husband and youngest son off to work each morning, walking every visitor to the door for a hug goodbye even during illness, and taking genuine interest in her great-grandchildren. She delighted in watching her own children become grandparents, often asking for photos and playfully “getting on to” them when the grandkids tattled. Above all, Lou was a woman of deep faith and prayer who pointed her family to the Lord, offering scripture and encouragement. She lived with hope rooted in Christ and looked forward to heaven.
She was preceded in death by her first-born son, John Nathan; her parents, Stanley and Liz Stowers; and her brother, Larry Stowers.
Lou is survived by her husband of 32 years, David Gromaski, Jr.; her sons, Nathan Peveto, Daniel Peveto (Chandra), Trey Gromaski (Hailey), Jacob Gromaski, and Lee Gromaski; her daughters, Gretchen Gately, Rachel Thomas (Zach), Shara “Suzie” Rumery (Randall), and Hannah Norris (Harry); grandchildren Patrice, Brooke, Gavin, Trinity, Shyanne, Elijah, Jonah, Tyler, Loryn, Christian, Job, Leila, Justus, Avery, Harper, Haven “Lulu”, Hattie Mae, and Slayde; great-grandchildren Delilah, Lane, Lucy, Foster, Truitt, Kohen, Levi, and Lorraine; her brother Stanley Stowers, Jr.; her sister Suzanne Vickers; and many nieces and nephews.
