Lorretta Lynn York

Loretta Lynn Ries York, age 57, of Summertown, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2026 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Born on March 6, 1969 in Augusta, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Edgar Ries Jr. and Janet Ries Tuckerman.

Loretta found deep satisfaction in the simple pleasures of life. She loved being outdoors, online shopping, cooking, listening to music, star-gazing, and working alongside her stepdad in the garage. Her affection for animals was well known, yet nothing brought her greater joy than time spent with her family. A devoted daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother, she touched everyone who knew her with her warmth and presence.

She is survived by her husband, David York; her daughter, Brittany York; her mother, Janet Ries Tuckerman; brothers Nick (Suki) Nichols of Texas, Kurt Nichols of Michigan, Edgar Ries III of Tennessee, and Gene (Michele) Ries of Tennessee; sisters Joyce Tuckerman Wilson and Crystal Tuckerman; granddaughter Bella Grace; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Terry Tuckerman, and nephew Justin Price.
